Dermatology Fellowship For Advanced Practice & Physician Assistants

The Clinician and Cosmetic Dermatology Fellowship at Summit Dermatology and Aesthetic Surgery is a one-year, non-ACGME-accredited program that admits two fellows per academic year.

SCHEDULE CONSULTATION

Advanced level practitioners have an opportunity to spend one year with Dr. Agha in a dermatology fellowship where they can learn the foundations of dermatology and treatments for common dermatologic conditions. Fellows will gain hands-on experience in treatments and procedures, and assist in surgeries and vein treatments. Dr. Agha is an assistant clinical instructor at the UIC Department of Dermatology and the Jesse Brown Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. We invite dermatologists and advanced level practitioners to join our procedure training events held throughout the year. For more information, please apply to our fellowship program below.

Program Details

The program includes a structured didactic and clinical curriculum, Including weekly dermatology journal club, lectures and hands-on teaching.

Procedures that will be mastered:

1. Use of a dermatology specific EMR

2. Shave and punch biopsy techniques

3. Skin excision

4. Electrocautery

5. Electrodessication

6. Electrosection

7. Intralesional steroid injections

8. Cryotherapy

9. Laser hair removal

10. Certain cosmetic procedures

11. Clinical diagnosis of common inflammatory, infectious

​Assisting in: Assisting in Mohs surgery, flap and graft reconstruction, sclerotherapy, endovenous ablation, Botox®, Fillers.


Potentially, exposures could include plastic surgery, facelifts, fat transfer, liposuction, etc.

Goals Of Our Program


The dermatology fellows are hired as full-time employees. The goal of the Dermatology Fellowship for Advanced Practice and Physician Assistants is to inculcate clinical knowledge and prowess in the field of clinical and cosmetic dermatology by a double board-certified dermatologist and cosmetic surgeon. At the end of the program, graduates will be on the cutting edge of clinical, procedural and cosmetic dermatology.

Application Process

The postgraduate Fellowship requires completion of nurse practitioners (ANP) program or physician assistant program.

1. Send your PA or NP complete transcript to the program director

2. Write a letter of intent to the program director Rania Agha, MD 1S210 Summit Ave Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181 or email to: Staff@oakbrookdermatology.hush.com

3. Send three (3) letters of recommendation from board-certified dermatologists whom you have worked with.

4. Write a 1500 word personal statement as to why you would like to be trained in dermatology.
